THIS IS COLORBLINDNESS.

(I am pretty much completely unable to distinguish this two squares. Others, obviously, can. More reddish purples I can start noticing a difference. But it’s still tricky.)

Ignoring people’s race? Not colorblindness.

and people who say they’re “color-blind” don’t ignore race, not at all. that’s code for “I don’t believe structural racism exists and will waltz around in White/Cis/Able-bodied/Hetero/Thin/etc. Supremacy blissfully/willfully unaware of my privilege”

Can’t remember the context in which I told someone once, “Colorblindness means you can’t distinguish red from green, not that it’s acceptable for you to pretend I’m white now because you decided it was a good idea.” Refuting people’s claim to being colorblind is probably the only place I’ll let the “But white is a color too!” line slide, cause being “colorblind” (maybe I’ll just call people colordenying) actually just assumes universal whiteness. It means telling someone how good their hair looks despite being so kinky and unruly.
